The Best Things About Winter
Some people whine about winter for the entire season, but my philosophy is to embrace the early nightfall and gloomy, cold weather to the best of my abilities. Here are a few things that I like to do in the winter.
Some people can’t stand the cold, but I actually don’t mind it. There is few better feelings than getting inside to a cozy house or apartment from the cold and wrapping yourself in a blanket and drinking some hot tea. I drink a lot of hot tea in the winter. I make pot after pot; it just tastes so much better when it is freezing outside. I could sit around and watch the fish dart back and forth in their large fish tank while drinking tea all night.
Another little routine I do in the winter is to light a candle. With the sun going down so early for the months of winter, a scented Yankee brand candle can really warm up your house or apartment and make the winter weather and cold that much more bearable and downright inviting.
I’ve been putting it off all year, waiting until the snowed in winter months to watch it, and finally it is time—I am finally going to watch the entire show of The Sopranoes. For some reason I never got around to watching it and last year I told myself that I would wait until the winter to tackle the six seasons of the landmark HBO show. I am into the second season already and find that watching an episode or two before bed during the winter can really take your mind off the bitterly cold temperatures.
Lots of people hate it but I actually enjoy smoking in the winter. There is something about sucking down a cigarette through your huge winter mittens and your scarf wrapped around your neck that is enticing to me. Maybe the cold makes me cherish the cigarette more than I would otherwise, I don’t know.
