Save Energy
Advice on Energy Efficiency
Just turn your heating down by one degree, it can make a big difference to your heating bill.
Ensure your hot water cylinder has a jacket around it.
Heat easily escapes from pipes so have them insulated Fit Thermostatic Radiator Valves
Switch your heating off 30 minutes before you leave home as the room take a while to cool down.
Switch off your heating before you go to bed in the rooms you are not using.
Set your hot water cylinder thermostat to 60°C or 140°F. Any higher is a waste of energy and can lead to scalding; any lower and there may be risks of legionella
Close your curtains at dusk to reduce the amount of heat escaping through your windows
What is the Greenhouse Effect?
The greenhouse effect is the natural process by which the atmosphere traps some of the Sun’s energy, warming the Earth enough to support life. Without the greenhouse effect, the average temperature on Earth would be around -18ºC, compared with the current average of around +15ºC. Most mainstream scientists believe a human-driven increase in greenhouse gases such as CO2 is increasing the greenhouse effect artificially. This has increased teh temperature on Earth’s faster in the past 100 years than is has for 1000’s of years.
New Boilers such as Condensing Boilers can reduce Energy consumption and cut CO2 Output
When it comes to heating your home efficiently and wasting as little fuel and heat as possible, then a full set of heating controls is just as essential as the right kind of boiler. Fitting a condensing boiler along with an upgrade of heating controls will clearly reduce your carbon dioxide output and your bills
‘A’ Rated Energy Efficient Boilers
Energy Saving Recommended boilers are all A rated condensing boilers and are amongst the most efficient available, converting much more of the fuel they use into useful heat. If everyone in the UK who could, installed a condensing boiler, CO2 emissions would be cut by more than 12 million tonnes and the energy saved would be more than enough to heat every household in Scotland for a year.
