Ginger Cake Home & Gift is a brand new online company that offers British-made, ethically sourced home wares, gifts, vintage items and furniture from carefully selected designers, artisans and photographers.

All products, from makers such Jane Hogben, Poppy Treffry, Red Ric Rac, Ian Mankin and Wild Planet, have a classic, nostalgic British feel.  Alongside the gift and furniture ranges, there are one-off vintage finds and items for the garden, including window boxes and deck chairs. The site includes artwork from Victoria Jackson and Paul Desmond, two photographers with design backgrounds. Victoria’s work includes still lifes, landscapes and nature subjects, working into the original photograph to give an aged and painterly feel. Paul, an illustrator, who likes to use vintage, film cameras to give his pictures a distressed, ethereal, quality.

Founder of the company is Kate Romney, a graduate in furniture design from the Royal College of Art.  With a 20-year background in design for top brands and design agencies, Kate started designing and making her own range of furniture last year, and with her husband Jez, launched Ginger Cake to sell not only their products but also the work of similar companies.
On her new venture Kate says, “Our aim is to create a varied and interesting offering that appeals to a wide range of customers interested in interior design and home improvement.  Setting up the site has been exciting and nerve racking all at the same time, but the very positive reaction of our customers is a huge inspiration.  We are looking forward to adding more products to the range over the coming months.”http://www.ginger-cake.co.uk
